HK Student Granted Asylum in Germany

A Hong Kong student identified only as “Elaine” has informed the Associated Press that she was granted refugee status in Germany on October 14, 2020. According to the Associated Press, the student had previously demonstrated against the Hong Kong extradition law. German officials would neither confirm nor deny the student’s account, citing the country’s privacy laws.
